Question and Answers

Q:

Food freezes in bins on left side of refrigerator by a cold air vent. Can't see way to adjust vent. Do I tape it over?

A:

With food prices on the rise, it's no time to waste food by over freezing in the bins of the GE refrigerator. Some drawers in the refrigerator do have a control as explained in the manual below. Hope this is helpful while waiting for an expert response on your specific model.

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the food freezing. First, try adjusting the controls to a warmer setting. If they are set at 5 adjust them to 3 or 4 and it may correct this freezing condition. If the food still freezes, the problem could be with the damper inside the air diffuser, the control board or the sensor. A technician would need to make these checks. Now, if you feel comfortable taping off part of the supply air, it would be ok. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the ice dispenser stops working. Based on the information listed, this indicates that either the door is not making good contact with the door switch or the switch is defective. First, make sure the door is closing good and does make good contact with the switch. If it barely touches the switch, the door will need to be adjusted. If it does seem to make good contact, the switch # WR23X10179 will need to be replaced. When replacing this switch, first disconnect power to the unit and then be sure to pay close attention to the wires and which terminals they connect to. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.
