Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my GE refrigerator not running?

A:

I assume it does not run at all since you mentioned it is not making any sounds. First, you will need to check VAC (Voltage Alternating Current) to the refrigerator.

If you have a volt/ohm meter and are comfortable working around live electricity I can give you a few checks that will help you diagnose the problem. Working with live electrical current can be very hazardous and possibly deadly. Testing voltage output requires working with electrical current. Do not attempt this measurement without the proper tools and safeguards.

I have included a wiring diagram so that you may also check VAC to the control board. (See diagram)

If the unit is running, check for a venting issue. (See included drawings).

This is a very labor intensive do it yourself project, if you are not completely confident in your repair skills, I recommend calling a service company to diagnose and repair your appliance.
