Hi,

Thank you for your question. It is concerning when the refrigerator is not functioning correctly. When the refrigerator starts freezing the product in the refrigerator section, this indicates a problem with the cold control and, or the damper. The cold control is the temperature control for the freezer section and is the top knob at the control panel. The bottom knob is the damper that lets the cold air into the fresh food section. This is the most likely cause of the problem you are describing. It could have frozen or become broken. Here is a link for the part, Maytag Refrigerator Damper .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this post.

Hi Don, The temperature control is the most suspect. If it is mounted and the bulb is installed correctly the damper should requlate the cold air into the fresh food section. I would also check the air circulation inside the fresh food section, nothing blocking the return air vent and room inside the fresh food for the air to circulate.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you are having this problem with the refrigerator. If the freezer is not getting cold, check to see if the evaporator and condenser fan motors and compressor are running. If they are running, it will lead to a problem in the sealed system. A certified technician would be required to make this type of check and repair. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.
