Question and Answers

Q:

My psc23pssa ice dispenser lights trurn off when trying to get ice. PSC23PSSASS Ge Refrigerator s series

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your ice dispenser is not working properly.

It sounds to me like it could be a control board issue.

I
f you hear a noise when you push the switch to get ice, the problem is mechanical. A mechanical problem is either in the ice bin, the auger housing or the ice chute.

If you didn’t hear a noise when you push the button to get ice, the problem is electrical.

If the flap doesn’t move when you press the switch to get ice, then it may be the micro switch. Take the cover off the front of the dispenser then remove the dispenser control. Now you should be able to see the switch unplug refrigerator and remove wires from switch. Using your ohmmeter , check the switch and you should have continuity between the terminals that are marked C and NC when you depress the switch. If you don’t have continuity, replace the switch and if you do, replace the dispenser board.

Q:

Why does this GE refrigerator PSC23PSSASS freeze then thaw on frequent basis?

A:

Usually this will be a main board problem, especially when more than one problem exists. The board will be a problem now though because the board that's showing to be used is WR49x10152. If you install the board be very careful with it and make sure you don't touch the electronics with your hands. Also make sure to unplug the unit from the wall outlet first. This board can be purchased at searspartsdirect.com . If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.
