When it comes to electrical problems on an appliance it can be dangerous and also expensive. While you are waiting for your expert answer, to avoid spending any more money on parts you may not need I am adding a link in where you can set up service to get a certified technician to diagnose and repair you tractor problem. I hope my link is useful.

I have attached a notated photo of the stator to use as a reference.

The 2 outside terminals on the regulator are AC voltage "in" from the stator and will be white wires (usually). The inside terminal on the regulator is DC voltage "out" to the tractor harness.

There should also be a green wire that connects to the regulator mounting screw (either screw).

It would be best to replace the stator and plug but I do understand your situation. With that being said, it should work as long as you wire up as I've shown. Make absolute sure each terminal/wire at the regulator is isolated and insulated from the others. If there is a cross there it's going to make a nasty mess out of the wires and very likely fry both the regulator and the stator.

Let me know how this turns out. And don't be too hard on the dog, if I saw a chipmunk on my mower I'd go after it with much gusto as well. Besides, you can't stay mad at a Labrador, they're such loyal companions.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!
