Q:

My ge prodigy electric dryer dose not heat

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your dryer model DSPR513EA2WW; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you with this issue. Unfortunately the model number you have provided appears to be incorrect as I cannot retrieve any data using the provided number.  I will however give you some starter tips that may help. First; if the dryer is of electric heat source you should check your breakers, if one side of the circuit trips off the dryer can run but no heat will be generated. The solution is to reset breakers turn off the back on and lock into on position.  Next check the power cord connections at the terminal block where the cord attaches to the dryer for broken wires or bad connections.  If power supply and wires are ok, check the setting on dryer be sure it is set to heat not fluff dry or air dry. If you are getting some heat but clothes are not drying check you vent for clogging, clean as needed. Any other issue will require detailed wiring and circuit component testing and additional information will be needed.  I hope this helps if you need more help reply with added details and the complete model number off the dryer and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services. Ron H.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on the serial number; the washer was manufactured in July of 2000.

Based on your symptom I would suspect a faulty electronic control board. If the cycle indicator is flashing, it could have an intermittent lid switch failure. Now, if you're selecting the "Dedicates" cycle, it will have a short soak cycle. If the lid is opened or if the lid switch contacts open, it will also stop running.

You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
