Question and Answers

Q:

Replacing the primary interlock switch. PLMBZ209GCA Frigidaire Microwave

A:

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Frigidaire microwave. I am so sorry to hear the primary interlock switch has failed. I know what a time saver the microwave is and know you want to get it working again quickly. In this case, I suggest you have repaired by a qualified technician.

We do not give advice on repairing microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged from the outlet. You need special equipment to work on a microwave starting with an anti-static wrist strap grounded to the microwave to even test components in it. Even minor door repairs and adjustments can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test MUST be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service.

For these safety reasons I strongly recommend having this repair completed by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME (1-800-469-4663). Here at SearsPartsDirect.com we love to help you with your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous for a do-it-yourself project.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter and I hope we can help you with your future questions and repairs. Thank you for choosing Sears and using our SearsPartsDirect.com service.

A:

I can't locate the information on the microwave you are replacing. Look on the inside of the cavity of the model PLMBZ209GCA microwave for a tag that gives you the number of the trim kit.

You can also measure the older microwave and compare it to the dimensions of the replacement. The way the air vents out of the cavity affects which installation kit the microwave uses also.

The correct trim kit for model FPM0209KF is MWTK(P)27K. If the original microwave used this model trim kit, you can use it for the new microwave. The depth of the FPMO209KF microwave is 20 1/16 inches, height- 18 1/16 inches, and width - 30 inches.
