I know it can be frustrating when the icemaker stops working. You have received some good information from Barbara about cycling these icemakers. To cycle this icemaker, turn the small gear counterclockwise until it starts running on its own. This is usually about a 1/4 turn. Now watch the icemaker cycle and toward the end it should fill. If it does cycle and fill, it will indicate the icemaker thermostat is defective or the freezer temperature is not cold enough. To check the temperature, place a thermometer between some packages. Air temperature is not a good check. If the temperature is above 10 degrees, the icemaker may not cycle. In this case, usually adjusting the control to a colder setting will correct the problem. If the temperature is ok, between 0 & 5 degrees, it will indicate the icemaker thermostat has failed. In this case, it will be more economical to replace the icemaker # 241642501. Replacing icemaker parts can be expensive and then you still have an old icemaker.

Now if the icemaker cycles but does not fill and you can hear a humming or buzzing sound, it will indicate the water valve is being energized but not opening. In this case, the water valve # 241803701 will probably need to be replaced. These parts are available at SearsPartsDirect . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.
