Question and Answers

Q:

Why did my dispenser stop dispensing water?

A:

Water may have stopped dispensing due to a frozen water line in the door. If this happens it could be due to the freezer getting too cold (below zero) or from a void in the door insulation. Sometimes the water reservoir will freeze or the tubing might kink. The water valve could be restricted or defective. The dispenser actuator may not be making good contact with the switch or the switch could be defective. These are a few examples of what can be causing your problem. I recommend having a technician diagnose and repair this dispensing problem for you.

Q:

broken fridge

A:

I can understand how frustrating is can be when you appliances are not working properly. While you are waiting for your expert answer, I was able to research this unit. The problem that you are having can be cause by all three of the parts, however it sounds like the compressor is overheating and shuting down. This can mean that the compressor is bad. I would recommend that you have a techincan look at the unit, because this can be a very complicated repair. I hope this helps.

From your description, I can't tell whether you are indicating that the condenser fan beside the compressor is running. If that fan is not running, then the compressor can be overheating and kicking out on the overload. In that situation, you will need to replace the condenser fan. That may fix your problem.

If the condenser fan is running, I recommend that you unplug the refrigerator and let the compressor cool off for a few hours. Plug the refrigerator in and see if the compressor will start or buzz even if it is only for a few seconds. If the start relay is okay but the compressor is locked up or bad, then you will need to have a service technician repair the refrigerator. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If the relay gets hot but you are not getting voltage to the compressor, then replacing that start relay may fix your problem. You can order the start relay from the Sears PartsDirect website. Unplug the refrigerator before accessing internal components and replacing that relay.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

Replacing some parts can be a challenge. Depending on which part # 24 you are referring to, the information you have received from James is good. I suspect you may be referring to the dispenser water actuator. This can be a difficult part to replace. I'm attaching some pictures with instructions to access the dispenser and replace the actuator. Be sure to disconnect power to the unit first. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful.
