Question and Answers

Q:

Freezer side cool, fridge side warm PLHS267ZAB6 Frigidaire Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.  I want to thank you for being a valued member and will be happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model PLHS267ZAB6, there is a damper that allows air from the freezer to go into the fridge. You could put your hand in front of damper to see if you feel the cold air. If you don’t feel any cold air the damper could be stuck in the closed position. It could be the switch that is used to control the temperature in the fridge. That switch controls the damper and could have failed. If you had a big chunk of ice on the defrost thermostat and it never defrosted by itself then the thermostat could need to be replaced. I usually don’t see a defrost issue cause cooling issues in the fridge side without affecting the freezer side.

Click here for diagram. Number 115 is the damper. Numebr 21a is the switch.

If you have any further questions please re-post. Thank you for choosing Sears. Have a great day.

Thank you for your question. I understand your concern about the fridge section getting too cold. The defrost thermostat and timer could cause the fridge section to be too warm but would not be a factor in it getting too cold. There is a new updated complete control panel #5303918283 that will correct this problem. Now, this can be a difficult panel to replace and a technician may be required. I'm listing a site you can access to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services. I hope this will help you.

The fresh food control is the one on the right. To replace the refrigerator thermostat order part number 240383703 and replace it. The cost of the thermostat is $146.18.

Freezing inside the refrigerator can also be caused by a bad damper control or a damper control jammed with ice. Before replacing the thermostat, I would remove and inspect the damper control. Disconnect the power to the refrigerator before removing the damper. Open and close the damper door with your finger to unjam it. You might find the damper control is the problem.
