Question and Answers

Q:

liquid when closing oven door PLEB27T9DCC Frigidaire Electric oven

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Frigidaire oven model PLEB27T9DCC. I am so sorry there is hot liquid spurting from the vent over the top of the door. I understand your concern and I will be happy to help you with this.

The vent is intended to release excess heat and moisture so that the oven can cook at an even temperature. Unlike a standard range, built in ovens cannot vent the air from a tube under a surface burner. When cooking food with higher moisture content and/or if you live in a humid environment there will be enough steam to form the liquid you mentioned. To protect yourself from burns always wear oven mitts when opening the oven, even if you are just checking on the food’s progress. You can clean the vent with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner like dish soap. Make sure you wipe the vent several times with a damp cloth to remove all soap residue.

If the condensation a major concern for you, the manufacturer makes an “Inner and Outer Scoop Kit” you can install to prevent condensation from dripping from the vent tube assembly. I have included the link below for the kit. You would need a kit for each oven door.

I have included an image at the bottom of this post. It is the instructions on how the kit would be installed. This will also show you how you can access the vent for a more thorough cleaning.

SAFETY WARNING: Disconnect the power supply before beginning your repair to prevent the risk of electrical shock which can result in property damage, serious personal injury or even death. If you are not comfortable completing this repair, you can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

My email said I had an answer to my question on this site, but I see "We couldn't find any answers to this question." under my question. Does that mean there is no reply or that Sears doesn't know how to answer my question?
