Q:

Belt too long? 11072974103 Kenmore Gas dryer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

Based upon the dryer model of 110.72974103, the dryer repair kit of 4392067 is the correct kit. If the belt seems too long, it is probably not routed correctly around the idler and motor pulley. I have provided an image below to show the routing of the belt.

There are also some great YouTube videos you can watch to see how the belts are installed and routed.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Geoff - There is a Shop Manual for this series of washers at:

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/eab852a13fbc842085256aa200643dd6/$FILE/Duet%20Job%20Aid.pdf

This is not for your exact model but should be close enough for your purposes.

As for other suggestions - check the electrical connections as per the manual.

Good Luck

I understand how difficult it can be to nail down the root cause of an error like this. The link provided by Yadira provides the correct information for this fault. You could have a failed MCU (motor control unit) or a bad CCU (central control unit). You could also have a failed wiring harness or a wire harness connection problem. It is likely the MCU, but the only way to nail down that component as the only cause is to do complete electrical checks. You have done the right thing in setting service and it is a good idea to have the MCU part ready. The technician will thoroughly check everything to make sure you have a working washer. If there is any further information needed, please reply. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I requested a MCU for my model # and I received an email from manage my life that the MCU is: PART NUMBER: 8182697. There is a picture of the part but it doesn't look the same as the MCU under the front left side of my washer. Is it possible the plastic housing is of a new design or they shipped me the wrong part? They refer to it as: "electronic control". My model is: GHW9400PL4

A:

You are correct, that part is not the MCU. It looks like they are sending the electronic machine control or central control unit (CCU) which is discussed above. The part number for the motor control unit (MCU) is 8182706.

Thank you for a good description of the problem. It sounds like the door lock assembly or the hook on the door may be damaged. You can open the door & check the hook (see image below). If the hook looks good you will need to replace the lock assembly. First, disconnect power to the washer. I am sending you complete step by step instructions from the service manual that will walk you through the repair process. The front section of the door boot will need to be removed in order to access the lock assembly. If you run into any problems, please get back with us on this.
