Question and Answers

Q:

Maytag Gas Oven Model#PGR4310CDW is taking almost 20min to start up but the stove burners light up quickly?

A:

An oven that malfunctions in this way would be a concern. While you wait for the expert answer, you can check the troubleshooting guide in the owner's manual if you wish. I found and attached below. I also found a similar question from a previous post and added the expert answer given. Keep in mind the model number is a bit different from yours. I hope the link I provided is helpful.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern. Based on your symptom, the oven glow bar igniter is likely too weak preventing the oven safety gas valve from opening as it should.

Open the broiler drawer and then set the oven thermostat to 300. Watch towards the back of the burner and you will see the oven igniter begin to glow red. If the igniter is weak, it will not pull enough current to cause the oven gas valve to open and have burner ignition. I added an image below with the theory of operation and how to access the oven igniter.

The oven igniter is part #74007498 and it can be ordered and shipped to you from Sears Parts Direct .

If you plan on replacing the oven igniter yourself, be sure to disconnect the power cord from the power source before doing so.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
