Q:

Should the "choke coil" be hot when treadmill is running? PFTL62510 Proform Proform 625

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

When the motor is working hard it will require more current/amperage which can cause wires to become warm to hot. The "choke coil" is likely not the proplem and the problem is likely too much friction between the walking belt and the platform.

You did not indicate if the treadmill circuit breaker is tripping and shutting the treadmill or not. I would have to assume the circuit breaker is tripping and shutting off the treadmill and once the circuit breaker cools down, it can be reset and the treadmill will start and run again for a short while until the circuit breaker trips again. If this is the case, I suspect the walking belt and/or the walking platform is most likely worn and causing the extra friction which will cause higher current/amperage draw thus causing the circuit breaker to trip.

With the treadmill turned off, incline the walking platform. Stand at the front of the walking belt and gently shove yourself back. If the walking belt and platform is okay, the belt you're standing on should roll backwards near the end. If you do not continue to roll back near the end, I suspect the belt and platform will likely need to be replaced if applying belt and deck lubricant doesn't help.

You could try applying some deck lubricant part #219170 which can be ordered from Searpartsdirect if the belt will not roll back when you stand at the front and gently push yourself back.

I have attached the tech sheet for your treadmill. You will need to check the control and power board lights to see if a problem is indicated there. To tell them apart, the controller has the red and black wire from the motor going to it.

If the LED's are showing what they should be showing (according to the tech sheet) then it's most likely that the console is the problem. If that looks to be the case, put the machine into the calibration motion described on the tech sheet. You can just go through each part of the calibration and then remove the safety key to take it back out of the calibration mode. Then try the treadmill to see if everything is normal. If it's not then the console has failed.

Let me know what you find with this.
