Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model PFSS2MIXBSS, I will be glad to direct you in the matter. The display readings of actual temperature and the setting will not always read the same, due to door openings food load and other factors. The true test is to examine the refrigerator at a time when it has not been entered for any reason for about 4 hours. This will be the most accurate readings. If you find the readings are off a great deal the probable cause could be the thermistor/sensor placement (normally the evaporator sensor).  I would recommend having this inspected by an experienced technician as this is not a DIY repair. I find no code of EC or EQ that you mentioned showing on the display, for this product. Here is a link to Sears Home Services.Ron H.
