Garage door will not run, nor from remote or wall PCG500ML Genie Genie ac chaindrive gdo

A:

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your garage door opener not working. We are here to help. Based on the symptom, I suspect a door spring or power supply problem. I recommend releasing the door at the trolley. Next, push the wall control button. If the trolley will move without the door, check the door spring. To check the door spring, just open the door manually waist high and let go. If the door slowly closes or is hard to open, the door spring needs adjusting. The garage door should open easy and stay in place. Now, if the trolley will not move with the door released, check for voltage to the opener with a multimeter. If there is no voltage at the outlet, reset the circuit breaker. Now, if the voltage is present at the outlet and the wall control does not work, check for voltage at the openers terminals with a meter. If voltage is missing to the openers terminals, a circuit board is bad or wires are disconnected. Now, if voltages are present at the openers terminals, check for broken or disconnected wires to the wall control and repair as needed. However, if the wires are connected and the wall control does not work, disconnect the wires from the wall control. Next, touch the two wire ends together. If the opener turns, on replace the wall control. Otherwise, the wires to the wall control are bad. The remotes not working may be a bad battery or they need to be reprogrammed. I hope this helps.
