If the noise was emitting from the augur and not from stripped splines on the agitator base then replacing the auger will likely resolve your failure. Leave the auger off and run the washer to see if it still makes the noise. If it does not make the noise with the augur removed, replace the auger. The auger is part #21001878 and is available to order from Sears Parts Direct .

Q:

Why does my Kenmore washer model PAVT920AWW fill and drain at the same time?

A:

From your description of the problem you have a "siphoning" problem.

I recommend you check the drain hose and how far it is stuck down the drain standpipe. If the drain hose is lower than the tub of water, stuck down the standpipe 2-3 feet, then as the water fills it will drain (siphon) out at the same time.

If you drain hose is going into a floor drain with no air gap then it will siphon the water out as it is filling.

You can pull the drain hose out of the drain and hold it up high and start the fill and the water should stay in the tub.

I hope this information is helpful resolving your problem but if you have any additional questions then submit another question with additional details for further assistance.
