Q:

Craftsman model 917.203900 lawn tractor manual says to lubricate 3 mandrel zerks

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Craftsman tractor.

From the information you have provided above, after researching model number 917.203900. Some mandrels have zerk fittings. Some mandrels have sealed bearings and don't provide a zerk fitting for greasing them. The owner’s manual for your mower shows mandrel zerks as part of the lubrication schedule. Owner’s manuals are very generic and written to fit many models. It is not unusual to find a discrepancy in the owner’s manual. The mandrels on your mower do not have zerk fittings.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.

The sealed bearings in the mandrels do not last long, nor do the Mandrels that have grease zerks. I drilled holes into the mandrel housings, removed the enter-seals of the bearings and packed the housings full of grease as well as used a grease gun to force grease into any "airspace" that may be present. I religiously greased these zerks before every use hoping to rid myself of the unpleasant chore of removing the mandrels to replace the bearings. I am at my wits end as it appears the grease zerks have done little to lesson the cost as well as labor it requires to replace these "substandard" bearings. These bearings have gone to pieces after approximately every 50 hours of use. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your range is not working properly.

F15 Controller self check failed.

Verify if relay board receives 120VAC between J4 pin 1 and 3.

Verify the wiring between J2 on the relay board and P16 on the display board.

If wiring and 120VAC supply is good replace the display board.

If problem persists replace the relay board.
