Question and Answers

Should the flame of the pilot stay on or off when the heating cycle finishes? NUGK100DH12

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

The pilot light will be continuously running in the furnace, that way when the burner needs to kick on, the gas will be released so the pilot can ignite the flame. That is normal operation. On some of the newer models that are more efficient, they will use an igniter versus a pilot so that gas is not wasted. However, the pilot doesn't use a lot of gas to remain lit, so it's not terrible.

I hope this helps and thanks for using We appreciate your business.
