Q:

Why is my Amana washer model #NTW5400TQ1 making a clicking noise and won't spin?

Why is my Amana washer model #NTW5400TQ1 making a clicking noise and won't spin

If the washer will pump the water out, but does not spin or agitate and your hear the motor running, it would indicate that you probably have a broken motor coupler. If the motor does not run in the spin cycle with the lid shut, then you likely have a bad lid switch. A bad lid switch will allow the washer to fill and agitate, but will not allow it to drain or spin. If you hear clicking noises in the motor, there could be a possibility your motor is bad.

I have the Amana NTW5205TQ0 and it won't agitate or spin. I checked the direct drive and it was not broken. I changed the timer and it still won't work.

Q:

Why is my Amana washer not always spinning?

A:

It sounds like what you’re describing is a bad lid switch or the lid hinge is bent. When you close the lid the left side lid hinge is what engages the lid switch. I recommend checking the lid switch & hinge. Please see the images provided for details.
