Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the treadmill. by what you have stated it sounds like the end cap of the treadmill broke. If this happens, the walking belt will shift to the side that is broken and cannot be adjusted. If the head of the bolt is broke through the end cap you need to order part number 174491. If you would like you could order it from our website Sears Parts Direct .

To replace the end cap you have to remove the two belt adjusting screws. Then slide the end cap off the end of the treadmill rails. Once the end cap is off you have to take the two large plastic inserts out of the old end cap and install them in the new one. After the inserts are in reassemble the treadmill in the reverse order. Then follow the instructions be to adjust the walking belt.

If you need further assistance on the treadmill, please reply below with more details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . Thank you for using Manage my life.

I have posted an image below that shows the new end cap. Usually when a part is substituted, the manufacture does not tell us what is changed. They could have added more reinforcement around the boltholes. Maybe another member has ordered this part and can tell us if they noticed a difference.

...okay, so I have ordered and received the rear end cap for Nordictrack NTTL11992, but I can't see any way of MAKING this subsituted part # 174491 fit the machine. It does not even appear long enough to go from one end of the rear roller to the other end.

If the end cap that you have received is not wide enough for the rear roller it will not work. I suspect you have received the wrong part. According to the NordicTrack website, that is the correct part. I have posted a link below that will take you to their website. I am not sure where you have purchased the part but I recommend calling the NordicTrack 800 number to have them verify this is the correct number. The reason I recommend calling them is they might want additional information from the treadmill that I do not have access too. Please let me know what you find out on this part.

...Okay, I have received the replacement REAR ENDCAP from Icon Fitness ( what a bear) for my Nordic Track Exp 2000, NTTTL1992, the instructions that came with the part were pretty well, but the images were a bit "washed" out. Anyway, here's the issue that I am having now; I have lifted the belt on both sides and the measurements are (3") Also, although the belt is CENTERED, it slips and makes a swishing sound as it completes a revolution. Sounds like the belt is dragging, it did no do this before and visually, it appears to be in pretty good condition. I am afraid of overtenghtening the rear endcap bolts--- they felt tight on the last quarter-turn adjustment that I made on each side of this PLASTIC ENDCAP. Any thoughts?

When the belt slips look at the front roller. If the roller keeps turning when the belt slips, you need to tighten the waling belt. Just tighten the adjusting bolts a 1/4 inch at a time until the belt does not slip. The three-inch rule will be different for everyone. Your three-inch measurement could be 6 inches for some one stronger. Please let me know how this works.
