Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help you with your treadmill. Upon researching model NTL16920 I found the gas shock is for the lowering of the treadmill. It helps to make it not drop as fast.

If you have any further questions please repost. Thank you for choosing Sears. Have a great day.

Give THIS VIDEO a look over. The calibration procedure he is describing is dealing with the incline. But this is also how you calibrate the speed.

Once you're into the level 2 of calibration, as they describe, instead of hitting the "incline" button you will want to press the "speed up" button. The walking belt will start to move and will proceed to full speed and then come back to a stop. Once the treadmill stops you can remove the safety key. The machine should now be calibrated. If you're still having the problem (based on this and your previous question) then it's very likely the controller has failed.

Let me know how this goes for you.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!

Thank you for your question on the Nordic Track Treadmill.

If this treadmill is under warranty please call the Nordic Track consumers help line.

If it is not under warranty it sounds like there is extra drag on the belt and it will cause the motor controller to compensate and then it will shut down on thermal overload and will not come back on until it cools off.

Do the instructions for your treadmill say that you much lube the belt periodically?

If it does then that could be the problem.

Check to make sure the walking belt is aligned in the center of the deck and is not too tight on the rollers.

Look at the video's to see if it can help you.

Here is a link to Nordic Track troubleshooting and videos.

Nordic Track .

I hope some of these suggestions will help.
