Thank you for your question. The fitting you are referring to are modified john guest fittings. They are tricky when you first get around them. You push in on the tubing and hold the little outside ring down and pull the tube out. Sometimes there is a small plastic clip that you pull off before doing the above procedure. But a picture is worth a thousand words and a video is worth a million words. I am linking you to a video that explains the john guest fitting completely. jg fitting .

hello. thank u for answering my question. it was very helpful. i have another question for the same model of fridge. i was able to disconnect the end of the hose that is connected to the water valve inlet. and yes it was connected via john house fitting. however, the other end of the hose which is located inside of the fridge. where the base the water filter is screwed on to. the house is not connected by the same john guest fittings. pls. advise how to disconnect hose. thanks
