Q:

Maytag Washing Machine MVWC6ESWW1 - why does the washer first agitate while filling the tub with water? Maytag Washing Machine MVWC6ESWW1

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer is not working properly.

It sounds to me like it could be a bad load sensing switch.

W10248240 is the load sensing switch.

Once the console is open the load sense switch is the switch that has the clear plastic hose connected to it. Remove the connector that has the violet, white and the blue with orange stripe from the switch. Then carefully plug the washer back in and start a wash cycle. If the washer does not do anything, you need to replace the load sense switch. If the washer still agitates, the problem is most likely a failed timer.

I have attached the instructions to get to the switch.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

My MVWC6ESWW1 has a similar problem. Originally, it would fill with water and then start agitating, but now the agitator starts immediately while it fills with water. The cycle then continues normally until the end of the cycle except that upon completion of the spin cycle at the end, it starts filling with water again (make drying them REALLY hard). Note that the JPG file does not seem to be accessible when using Chrome.

Q:

Washer will not come on. Model MVWC6ESWW1 MVWC6ESWW1 Maytag Automatic washer

A:

Wow I didn't see how old this was until I was done. Yes the lid switch will stop the washer from working totally. Most of the time the way to open the top is get a puddly knife and slide it under the front all the way to the right side and then on the left side. It has a spring release under it just slide the puddly knife real slow and straight until you feel it hit the spring then just push easy and the one side will lift then do the same thing on the other side. Some times it has one screw in the back right next to each one of the sides just loosen them up..I hope this helps someone to fix there washer.. Pete

Q:

my washer will not fill with water? MVWC6ESWW1 Maytag Automatic washer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Maytag washer.

From the information you have provided above, after researching the model number MVWC6ESWW1. Have you tried replacing the water valve in the back of the unit? the part number for the valve is W10175893. I would also check the water inlet hoses to make sure there are no clogs blocking the water from entering the machine. After this is checked and you’re still having the issue, I would suggest having a technician out to diagnose the issue. You can set up service at 1-800-4MY-HOME.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.

I have the same model #MVWC6ESWW1 - The washer will not fill on any cycle but it will spin. This is a new problem from what I have experienced in the past.. I have had to replace the sensing switch twice (would agitate before filling with water) and now I have this new problem. This unit is only 5 years old - very unhappy!
