Q:

Microwave Oven will not turn on MV1515B Goldstar Microwave oven

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the microwave.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Goldstar Microwave model number MV1515B.

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your questions about your Goldstar Microwave. I am so sorry to hear it has problems problems after the outage. I know what a time saver the microwave is and know you want to get it working again quickly. In this case, I suggest you have it tested and repaired by a qualified technician.

We do not give advice on repairing microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is unplugged from the outlet. You need special equipment to work on a microwave starting with an anti-static wrist strap grounded to the microwave to even test components in it. Even minor door repairs and adjustments can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test MUST be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service.

One thing I can suggest  you to do though is turn the breakers off then back on.

For these safety reasons I strongly recommend having this repair completed by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME (1-800-469-4663). Here at SearsPartsDirect.com we love to help you with your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous for a do-it-yourself project.

A:

I understand your light is not working in the hood of the microhood combo. I found a question in Manage My Life under the Answers button that was similar to the one you asked. This information should give you some answers that might help you out. I attached the link below. I hope this helps!!!!

If you hear the light relays clicking when you press the light control button from High to Low and the lights don't come on then most likely failure is the power control board (PCB)assembly. NOTE: Do not attempt to repair your microwave. Microwaves inherently store huge amounts of voltage (10,000 volts) even when the microwave has been disconnected from the power supply.

Call a service technician to diagnose and repair your microwave. Call Sears at 1-800-4MY-HOME or 1-800-469-4663 to set up a service appointment.
