Question and Answers

What is wrong with my Maytag model MTW5920TW0 washer when it will agitate, rinse and drain but it will not spin?

If the washer will agitate, rinse and drain then the motor is okay.

From the description you give the problem is caused by the basket drive and/or clutch.

If the washer is draining the water out then the first thing to try is to let the water drain out then turn the timer off and then back on and see if the spin starts. The timer must pause for a second to enable the washer to come out of neutral drain and start to spin. If you turn the timer off and then back on, or if you lift the lid and close it and it starts to spin then the timer is most likely the problem.

Another thing to try is to turn the spin basket by hand when it is suppose to be spinning. Try giving the basket a push start and see if it spins. If the basket starts to spin when you push it then most likely the basket drive/clutch is the problem.

If you can't turn the basket then it is possible the spin bearing is bad or there is something under the basket preventing it from turning.

I hope this information helps you to resolve this problem but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
