Q:

i have a MTW5770TQ0 Maytag Residential washer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you’re having with the washer stopping after filling with water. I know how frustrating that is.

If the washer will fill then just stops, the most likely cause is a bad lid switch. On this particular washer if the lid switch is bad then it will fill but it can't run the motor at all. The 8318084 lid switch can be obtained from Sears Parts when needed.

Checking and replacing the lid switch is a great do-it-yourself project. You would need a meter to check continuity across the switch and a few basic tools to remove the switch. Remember to unplug the washer first.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Q:

why does my washer continue to fill with water and spin/fill with water and spin over and over again? mtw5770tq0

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

This sounds like two issues one for the water still filling would be an issue with the inlet valve. And the not advancing issue would be the timer. Replacing both of those should resolve your issue.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
