Q:

Agitator won't start MTW5600TQ2 Maytag Residential washer

A:

Hello, glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. We, at Sears, value your service.

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is problems with the washer.

Glad to help out.  I’m looking at your Maytag Washer model number MTW5600TQ2.

The part you need to look at is between the transmission and the motor on the bottom of the washer.   Located inbetween the transmission and the motor is a coupling.   The coupling is 2 plastic pieces with a rubber piece in the middle.   This piece is designed to spin the agitator.   When it breaks, there is usually a loud noise and then quits spinning.

Q:

The tuning of a maytag washer mtw5600tq2

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when having trouble with the washer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Maytag Washer model number mtw5600tq2.

The first thing to do is make sure all 4 legs / feet of the washer is stable and leveled.

Look at the suspension springs and look at the counter weight springs next.   When they break or spring gives it will cause the tub to shake consistantly.

Make sure that your washer is leveled properly from front to back and side to side with all 4 leveling feet firmly on the floor. Press down on diagonally opposing corners to see if the washer rocks slightly or has any play. If it does, the leveling feet will need to be adjusted to eliminate this play.

Most models will have locking nuts for the leveling legs. Once the leveling feet have been adjusted properly, make sure that the locking nuts are properly tightened.

If you have the washer on a wood floor with joists underneath, then you may need to check the stability of the flooring under the washer. This problem can often be solved by putting down a sheet of 3/4" plywood under the washer. When this plywood is securely attached through the flooring and into stable joists under the washer, it will normally improve stability.

These tips may help you resolve your shaking problem with the washer
