A:

Yes, it is possible the adaptive defrost control (adc) has failed. Depending on the series of your refrigerator, this can be a difficult check even for a technician. To determine the series of your refrigerator, the complete serial number will be needed.

It could also be a problem with the heating element or the bi-metal control. Both of these parts are located behind the back panel in the freezer. Before attempting any tear down to access these parts, it will be best to know the series of the unit. With the proper series, it can be determined how to advance and check the adc board. For more specific information, the complete serial number will be needed. If a technician is needed, I'm also listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
