Question and Answers

Q:

I have water dripping from the top of the fresh food compartment where cold air enters from the freezer. Is there a dehumidifier of some sort that's not workin MSD2756DEW Maytag Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand any frustration you may have experienced with regards to your unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

No there is no dehumidifier on this model. It sounds like there is something that is clogging the drain in the freezer. I would recommend taking contents out of freezer and removing back panel to locate the drain tube. Once found by using hot water, try to see if you can get that drain unclogged.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Q:

Refridgerator not getting cold enough

A:

I can appreciate your attempts to determine what is wrong with the air flow of your refrigerator.  I'm wondering if it might not be a frosting issue blocking air flow.  If the seal on the freezer door is not sealing properly, air will get in and become frost over time.  Cleaning the seal with warm water and soap will often remedy this problem.  I've located a link that will discuss the possibility of the defrost failing. Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be
responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and
instruction. I hope this information will be helpful and have a nice day.

Henry, I took everything out of the refridg. and freezer two days ago. Cleaned both sides and left the doors open to let it completely defrost. There was very little frost. Last night I plugged it back in and shut the doors. I put a bottle of water in the freezer side and a thermostat in the refridg. side. The water was frozen solid (I have never had an issue with the freezer) and the thermostat on the refridg side read 48 degrees. It had been reading 50 degrees which is when I decided we had a problem. The unit is in our garage, by the way. Thanks for your input and I welcome any other thoughts.

Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. If the air return vent is restricted or frozen, it'll reduce the air flow to the fresh food section. You can check for blocked venting by feeling the air flow from the air damper (vent in fresh food section). Open the freezer door to see if the air flow increases from the damper. If the air flow increases, this indicates the air damper is being restricted. I recommend deforsting the refrigerator if this is the case. If this issue continues, then you're experiencing a thermostat or deforst issue. If the air does not increase, then the issue is with the air damper not opening and closing to let the cool air in. In this case the air damper (61005971) would need replacement. You can order parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

Thanks for the information about your refrigerator model MSD2756DEW, I will be glad to assist you. Based on the description you provided I think the water inlet valve is weeping (allowing water to pass through when should be closed). This is not uncommon as over time the diaphragm inside the valve gets build up on it or just swells and sticks open.  The valve would need to be replaced, it is non-repairable. To verify this, try to deice the fill tube inside the freezer and accessible from outside back as well. Or you could remove the ¼ inch tube from the back where it enters the freezer, if water is oozing out then the valve ids bad.  When ordering a part for this refrigerator you will need a series code that is next to the model number. I hope this helps you, if you need additional help please reply with more details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services. Ron H.
