Question and Answers

Q:

not cooling MSD264RHEW Maytag Maytag refrigeration

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be happy to help with your refrigerator. Upon researching model MSD264RHEW; this unit has a freezer control. The control is the part that regulates the temperature in the freezer. It could be the temperature control has failed. The ADB controls the defrost turning on. If there is an issue with the defrost turning on then it could be the board. If there is an issue with it turning off it could be the thermostat. I linked the diagram below. The control is key number 13.

Thank you for choosing Sears. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Based on the amount of water that was leaking, it is likely that you have a bad water valve assembly for that ice maker. The valve could be allowing water to leak into that ice maker mold to the point that it is overflowing. Shutting off the water supply to the refrigerator will stop that type of leak until you can get the problem fixed. I suspect that you may have already shut off the water supply.

You can shut off the ice maker by lifting the metal bail arm to the "up" position. Briefly restore the water supply and see if the ice mold in the ice maker begins to fill with water. If it does, then you may need to replace the water valve assembly. I recommend that you have a service technician verify that failure and perform the repair. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

If you want to diagnose and repair this problem yourself, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

This is not a common problem on that model of refrigerator. That being said, a component failure can occur at any time. Once you get that problem fixed, you will probably not have further problems. The amount of humidity will not affect the water system and ice maker. It can affect the automatic defrost system but the 50% humidity should not be a major factor.

Sir, This isn't the problem we're having. It leaked approximately 8 gallons in a couple hours. I'm guessing it had something to do with the ice maker.
