Question and Answers

Q:

Maytag Refigerator refridge side not cooling

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model MSD264RHEB; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. First; please do not attempt any testing or checking the relay, overload , capacitor  or cycling thermostat as the y have nothing to do with the issue you have described. _Always disconnect power supply before servicing the appliance and when testing live voltage be sure to wear proper safety equipment (gloves and eye protection) also be aware of sharp metals on product_You say there is no air flow from freezer to fresh food section, Does the evaporator fan run, if not it should be tested first. The fan should have 120 volts ac at the blue and white wires (when the compressor is running), if it does and is not running replace it.  Next; often the coil will frost over blocking air flow, if the coil is frosted over then there would be a major air leak or a defrost system issue. The defrost system consist of a defrost heater on the freezer coil a defrost thermostat located on the coil and the adaptive defrost control located in control box.

If you have the needed testing equipment the heater and bi-metal (defrost thermostat0 should both read closed circuit when the freezer coil is cold and frosted.  If the heater and bi-metal are good then the issue is most likely the defrost control. (Note: all wiring in circuit should be tested)
