I know how frustrating it is when an appliance isnt working correctly. Because of the extremely high voltage a microwave generates and can store even when unplugged, we do not give repair information on them. We strongly recommend having a service technician replace the control of the microwave. I hope you understand we do not want a customer getting serious injured or worse. We will gladly give repair advice on all other appliances. You can have the microwave repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website to set up service: Sears Home Services

Q:

What is wrong with my microwave that won't do anything after it was turned on for 20 minutes with nothing i

A:

When the microwave is run empty, there is nothing to absorb the energy that the magnetron tube puts out. This results in a tremendous load on the magnetron and a high current draw by the microwave. The microwave has an internal fuse that will blow and turn everything off.

If the fuse blows soon enough, there may not be any damage to the magnetron or the high voltage transformer. The life of the parts is surely shortened.

If the microwave is more than 5 years old, you should consider replacing it. I would recommend you set service and let a technician diagnose and repair the microwave if you are going to repair it.
