Q:

MLXE62REW2 washer dryer combo - no agitation during wash cycle MLXE62REW2 Universal/multiflex (frigidaire) Universal laundry center - 5995291456

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your washer and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number MLXE62REW2 and I recommend checking the tension pulley, also the agitator inside and check to see if there is any play. There should not be any play. Also you may need to inspect the drive block, if it wears out the washers agitator will not work properly and may also make be noisy during operation. Does your machine make any noises out of the ordinary?  You can access this part by removing the agitator cap and remove the agitator mounting bolt. The old part will lift off of the transmission shaft once the agitator and bolt is removed.

thanks for your reply. I had removed the agitator the other day without a problem but now when I remove the cap and bolt, I cannot pull out the agitator. It is stuck on the transmission shaft. Any idea how to get it loose? This is one of the older 1-piece agitators - not the 2-piece ones on newer models. It also seems like the cap may now be stripped as it will not fully tighten.

PS: I tried replacing the belt already but to no avail. the tranny still seems to only want to turn in the spin-direction. the motor buzzes a bit and then shuts down completely when trying to run while in the Wash cycle position.
