Q:

water will not drain code F21 MHWE300VW13 Maytag Automatic washer

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the washer.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Maytag Washer model number MHWE300VW13.

When won't drain always check for:
1.  Check for restricted drain system.
2.  Check low and high water levels.
3.  Chec for 120 VAC at the drain pump when a spin cycle is selected.

F21 = LONG DRAIN:
per tech manual:

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes "F21" will be displayed, the water valves will turn off, and the pump will stop running.  Press PAUSE/CANCEL to drain the machine.  The display will be cleared and the machine will turn off after a maximum of 8 minutes.

POSSIBLE CAUSES/PROCEDURES:

1.  Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.

2.  Unplug washer or disconnect power.

3.  Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects, and also make sure the hose from the tub to the pump is not plugged or kinked.

4.  Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.

5.  Plug in washer or reconnect power.

6.  If the above does not correct the problem then go to step 7.

7.  Unplug the washer or disconnect the power.

8.  Replace and get a new pump.

While you are waiting for an expert answer, I suggest you add to the thread of this question and include the full model number of your washer so that the expert can provide you with a more detailed answer. I did manage to find a link that will provide you with some good tips to help you with your problem. I hope my link is useful.

A:

Most front load washers have a front panel under the door that is removable. Remove this panel and you can follow the hose that comes from the sump on the bottom of the outer tub.

Disconnect the hose and use a piece of wire (clothes hanger works well) with a 90 degree bend in the end to pull coins out of the hose.

Look through the holes in the inner tub to locate any coins inside the tub. Use a small flat blade screwdriver or the wire to move any coins down to the sump.

If you have more questions reply on this thread and I will be glad to help. Include the model number of the washer in the reply and we can give you more specific instructions.

Jimmy, Thanks for this information. I will give it a try. It is a Kenmore front end loader, Model 11049962603 (Kenmore Elite Smartwash - Quiet Pak4). Is there anything special about this unit? Rick S.

Rick, remove th screws at the bottom of the lower front panel and pull it out at the bottom. You will see a button trap with a drawer that pulls out. Rotate the front of the drawer 1/2 turn counterclockwise and pull it out. Clean the trap and look for coins in the hose to the trap and around the outer tub.

Thanks. I got the front off and found some coins in the trap by twisting if and pulling it out. Is there any danger in running it if there are more coins in the drum? It looks to be somewhat involved to take the hose off.

A:

Rick: There would be no danger in running the washer if there happens to be more coins lying in the bottom of the tub. The coins will eventually end up in the pump filter trap. Remove and check the pump filter trap periodically for any coins.

Hi, i have a Electrolux EWF-1074 and there is a small nut (from my pocket) that seems to be stuck in the drum. it hasn't made its way down to the filter thing that you spoke about but seems to be trapped. it seems like it might be difficult to open the whole thing up, do you have any advice?

A:

Matt: If the nut is not found in the basket then it is likely laying the bottom of the tub or is lying in the bottom of the coin trap. There is a hose connected to the bottom of the tub connecting the drain pump and the nut is likely lying in the bottom or it may have already been pump out through the drain hose. I would just leave it because you would have to remove the front panel in order to access the drain pump and coin trap.
