I recommend that you have a service technician replace that door latch assembly. Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as replacing a door latch, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service.

It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician.
You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services Microwave Repair or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.
We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future.

Q:

How do I replace the door frame and handle on my Whirlpool microwave model MH7140XFQ1?

A:

This type of repair needs to be completed by a service technician. The microwave door has essential shielding components that must be assembled properly to prevent radiation exposure. The door must be properly tested for radiation shielding leakage following any repair. These are the reasons that a service technician must complete this procedure for replacing the door frame.
