Question and Answers

Q:

The lights on my Whirlpool Microwave hood combination shorted out model MH7135XEQ1

A:

I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties with your Microwave. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. I strongly suggest that you have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. I have provided a link To Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule service. Have a great day!

I can understand how difficult it can be when you microwave is not working properly. From what you are describing it does sound like the light socket have shorted out the control board. However, microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as , can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test should be performed after any microwave service.

It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician. If you would like to schedule service, just click on the link: Sears Home Services . If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
