Question and Answers

I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties with your Microwave. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. I strongly suggest that you have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. I have provided a link To Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule service. Have a great day!

I would like to assist you with your microwave. Does the humming sound like something running, or is it more of a metallic nature? There is ducting that is used for the purpose of exhaust and these may be vibrating for various reasons. There is also the possibility that the exhaust fan may have kicked on if the range or cooktop below the microwave was being used. There is a temperature sensor that automatically turns the exhaust fan on if conditions warrant.

I suggest calling to have a Sears technician come and check the unit if you are in doubt as to why it was humming, it is difficult and potentially hazardous to remove the unit for inspection. 800-469-4663 is a number to call for service, or you can use the Sears Home Services link to set up a service call.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or would like any further assistance.
