Q:

Outer door frame replacement MH1150XMB0 Whirlpool Microwave hood combo

A:

I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties with your Microwave. Most people do not know that Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. I strongly suggest that you have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. I have provided a link To Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule service. If you think it may be cost effective to just replace the unit, I have also provided a link to the Microwave section of Sears.com to price out what a replacement would cost.

I understand wanting to install the door frame yourself. I see Dezeray provided you with some excellent safety information. Replacing a door frame may not seem like a big deal but a microwave is not the usual appliance. Replacing the door frame is a repair that should only be completed by a service technician. Disassembling the door would involve removing the microwave shielding components.

Microwaves contain high-voltage components that can retain a lethal electrical charge of up to 2200 VAC -- even when the microwave is unplugged. Repairs and adjustments, even minor ones such as door repairs, can cause microwave leakage. A microwave shielding leakage test MUST be performed after any microwave service. It is for these safety reasons that we are unable to guide you in microwave repairs and instead recommend scheduling service with a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME. We thank you for your understanding in this matter and hope we can help you with other questions and repairs in the future. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.
