Q:

My Maytag range model MGR5775QDW oven overrides the oven temperature from +25 to 30degrees. How do you test the oven sensor?

A:

It would be very unusual for the oven sensor to increase the oven temperature by 25-30 degrees and not allow you to adjust the oven temperature.

To test the oven sensor disconnect the power to the range. Remove the panel covering the back of the oven. The oven sensor has a short pigtail and connects to the range wiring harness behind the oven with 2 small white wires. Disconnect the plug and read the resistance of the sensor with an ohm meter. A good sensor will measure 1000-1200 ohms at room temperature. It should read 1140 ohms at 70 degrees. If the oven sensor checks good the control for the oven will have to be replaced.
