Q:

How do I replace gas oven door hinges. MGR5729ADW Maytag Range

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when doing work on the range..

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Maytag Range model number MGR5729ADW.

Replacing the hinges is usually not too hard a job.   First pull up evenly with both hands on the door to remove it from the hinge stem.
Place the door to the side and lean it safely or lay it on a counter.

Look at key number 15 on the blue link below.   That is the hinge.   The same hinge for each side.   Number 12 is the screw that needs to be removed.   There is an upper and a lower screw.   Take off both and remove the hinge.   May need to get something like wd 40 to spray it carefully on the screws.

Put in the new hinge from where the old hinge was located and tighten down very snuggly.

What would the next step be since the largest part of the hinge is still hidden from view behind the two side panels? Does the oven need to be tilted backward to get at the screws on the bottom of the side panels in order to remove them? If it is necessary to remove the side panels does that require removing the back panel? Then, once the complete hinge is fully exposed how is it attached to the oven body? Thanks.

Q:

oven will preheat but will not maintain temperature MGR5729ADW

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when there is trouble with the temperature.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Maytag  model number mgr5729adw.

The best thing to do is get an "oven safe thermometer" and set it in the oven.  See if it matches your oven temperature.  If the sensor is good then you need to take the bake ignitor out and test it and see that it has around 20 - 40 Ohms.

If it doesn't match that means you need an oven sensor which took the place of the thermostats.   I have it on the link below.
