It’s all the same really. You would need to just pull out the freezer drawer, and you can either force the defrost or let it defrost itself. Once defrosted drain should be on the back of freezer wall, make sure it’s free of debris.

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the bad tasting water. This problem usually occurs when the water supply line to the refrigerator is plastic. If this has a plastic supply line, it needs to be changed to copper. I would also recommend replacing the water reservoir # 12956202 because it can absorb the odor from the water and the water stored in it, will continue to pick up the odor. This tank is located on the back wall in the fridge section. A technician may be needed to replace it. It's available at http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/12956202?searchModPar=12956202+&pathTaken=partSearch&prst=0&shdPart=&sid=MMLxexpertxmerch . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

HOW DO I REMOVE THE ICEMAKER, FROM THE REFRIGERATOR SECTION, OF A MAYTAG FRENCH DOOR #MFI2067AES?

A:

This can be a very tricky icemaker to remove. I'm attaching some pictures with instructions for removing this icemaker. The harness will be located directly under the icemaker behind a cover. When you get the cover off and disconnect the harness, there will be a tab on the left front of the icemaker you will need to release and the complete icemaker assembly will then slide out. I hope this will help you. If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.
