Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

There are 3 components in the broil element operation.  The electronic oven control/clock assembly, a double line break relay and the broil element. If the bake element works, the double line break relay is Okay. There is an upper oven broil element Hi-Limit thermostat connected in series with one leg of the voltage supply connected between the broil element and the oven control. If this Hi-limit opens and it fails to reset, the broil element will not heat.  The High Limit thermostat is mounted to the back of the range. The High limit thermostat can be disconnected and tested for continuity with and Ohm meter. If the High limit thermostat measures continuity, the most likely failure would be the electronic oven control.

I added an image below of how to access the oven control. Disconnect the power supply from the range before servicing.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

There are no test that can be made as far as checking to see if the buttons are making contact or not when pushed. The electronic oven control/clock assembly will need to be replaced if some of the buttons are not working.

I will add a couple of images in my next reply in thread.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
