Question and Answers

Q:

Bottom oven starts heating at random and will not shut off. MER6772BAB Maytag Range

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
I'm sorry to hear of the issue you're having with the lower oven randomly powering on and then not shutting itself off when canceled or stopped. I know how concerning that is to have occur.
Based on your symptom there is one of two possible failures causing the oven to not turn off. It could have a shorted bake element or a faulty electronic oven control. Unplug the range and inspect the bake element for any signs of cracks or blisters. If the bake element looks normal, then I would suspect a faulty electronic oven control. There is a relay within the control that supplies the power to the oven, and if that relay is faulty, these types of symptoms could occur. I would recommend to have a Sears technician come out and do a proper diagnosis and help with the repair to make sure it's corrected.
If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, you can call 1-800-349-5071, or click here to be directed to the page to set up service.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

MER6772BAB Gemini Maytag Works fine but door is loose at the hinge so it makes me wonder if there is a tired or disconnected spring. It appears left hinge is possible bent on the lower arm because the nub is on the inside and on all the other hinges it is to the outside.

Thanks for posting your question on ManageMyLife.com

I can understand how frustrating it is when the burner is not cooking your food properly.

From your description and model number, I'm showing this burner is the Dual Heated burning. From your information it sounds like the Burner switch needs to be replaced. But to make sure, could you clarify wether the issue it with the whole burner or just the inside burner section or outside burner section.
