On the Maytag Gemini electric ranges, that F1-8 error code normally indicates that you have a bad membrane keypad. That component normally needs to be replaced to fix this type of problem. There are times when corrosion of the wire harness connections or a loose wiring connection could cause that code to be displayed. You can unplug the range and check those wiring connections. Clean the contacts and reassemble the range. If the code returns, then you will probably need to replace that membrane keypad. Before replacing parts, I recommend that you reply with the full model number and serial number of your Maytag Gemini range. The information on that code is accurate for most Gemini ranges but there could be some variations in the different models. There are many different models of Maytag Gemini electric ranges. The serial number also shows the revision and is normally needed to order the correct parts.

Same issue. Range is MER6770AAC. This is a result of someone cleaning the oven top with windex and spraying it directly on the buttons.

Hello Robin. Based on your details, it is likely that the membrane keypad is shorted out due to that spray. There is a chance that the keypad will work properly once it dries out. Give it a day or two to dry. Unplug the range or shut off the house circuit breaker during that time so that the range will not beep constantly (you probably already did that). Once the membrane keypad dries thoroughly, see if you can power up the range and use it normally. If not, then you will need to replace that electronic oven control board assembly (that includes the membrane keypad and the overlay). Here is a link for the control board assembly for that range: Clock Assembly for Maytag Range Model MER6770AAC . Be sure that you UNPLUG the range before accessing and replacing that electronic control board. The part will come with instructions. Remove the back panel to access that electronic control board and replace it. If you need more help, let us know.
