On that model, the parts list diagram that I have shows that the dual burner is original part number 74004556. It substitutes to element kit 12002144. That element in the kit does have an internal jumper so that the short black wire that connected those contacts on your original burner are no longer needed. I provided a wiring diagram for the burner in the image below. This information may help you properly wire that element. Be sure that you unplug the range when accessing internal components.

NOTE: This element must be wired properly. If you are not certain that you can properly wire that new element, I recommend that you have a service technician install that component. Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need it: Sears Home Services .

Hello Dan. The wiring diagram is in the first image below. The second image shows hot to raise the glass stove top to access the radiant elements. This information should help you replace that part. You will not need the jumper wire that is described in the above response on that new radiant element. If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further. NOTE: Be sure that you UNPLUG the range before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

I checked all of the technical information for that control on your Maytag range. I did not find an adjustment for the brightness on that digital display. It does not appear to have that type of adjustment available on your model. To fix that type of problem yourself, you will probably need to replace that entire clock control board (part 5701M556-60). Here is a direct link for that replacement part: Electronic Control for Maytag Range MER5770BAW . Be sure that you unplug the range before accessing internal components.

You should be able to access and replace that electronic clock control board by removing the upper back panel behind that console (with the range unplugged ). Be sure that you connect the wires on the new control board in the same manner as the original one was connected. If you need more help, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
