Question and Answers

Q:

My dryer wont start.

A:

From what you’re describing I suspect you had a venting restriction causing the first symptom you mentioned. Now, it sounds like the thermal fuse blew; this will prevent the motor from coming on. You will need to test the thermal fuse with a meter now; you should read closed continuity across the thermal fuse. If the thermal fuse shows open continuity, it is bad. Be sure to check & clean the exhaust venting after repairing & before running the dryer. Also, do not run the dryer with the panels out of position, has to have the correct air flow to work properly. I have sent the wiring diagram outlining the path of voltage to the motor to your email address. Thermal fuse; 40113801 www.searspartsdirect.com

A:

It is very likely the thermal fuse has blown, which will prevent it from running. For more specific information a complete model number will be needed.
