Q:

Maytag Dryer start button MDG9306AWW Maytag Gas dryer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dryer will start by itself.

Based on your symptom it could have a stuck push to start switch or possibly a stuck contact inside the motor centrifugal switch. You can access the push the start switch and disconnect the black wires from the push to start and then see if starts with the door shut when setting the timer. If it doesn't start, replace the push to start switch.

You can also visit searpartsdirect.com for parts, diagrams, and repair information.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

maytag gas dryer MDG9306AWW>

A:

I can understand your concern over your dryer not staying hot.  I'm wondering if you might not have a venting problem at the base of this issue.  This problem can be caused by a restricted vent so one thing to try is to simply remove the vent hose from the back of the dryer and see if there is any improvement.  It could also be a thermal cut off issue.   I have located a link that will discuss your situation in more detail.
Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be
responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and
instruction. I hope this information will be helpful and have a nice day.

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your dryer model MDG9306AWW; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. I here you say that you have cleaned the duct, however your description of the issue is a classic indication of an air flow problem. Before you replace any more parts please follow the below instructions. Here is a simple test you can perform that will determine if indeed the vent is your issue. Access behind the dryer and remove the vent hose or vent pipe from the dryer. You will have the dryer pushed away from the wall and can leave it in that position for this test. Move the vent out of the line of air flow and set the dryer on high heat and put in a load of clothes from the washer. Set the control to a standard setting you normally use and allow it to run the full cycle. If your clothes dry properly this indicates that the venting is clogged and will need to clean the vent or contact Sears Services to arrange cleaning. Your dryer is not malfunctioning, with the vent clogged no air is being moved through the clothing and the heating device short cycles to prevent damage. I hope this helps solve your problem .if you need additional help please reply with more details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.
