Question and Answers

Q:

hi, Nolan here. my Maytag dryer igniter will go on and off. dryer will not light. (gas) model no. mdg3757aww serial no. 10699571gt

A:

Nolan, thank you for your question.  I am sorry for the problem with your Maytag MDG3757aww Gas Dryer.  If the ignitor glows and clicks off and repeats then the problem is most likely with the Gas Valve.  I the ignitor glows but does not click off then the Flame/Radiant Sensor is bad.  You can raise the top panel  by using a putty knife to release the two clips holding the top.  The clips are about 2 inches in from the front corner.  I hope this helps.  You can reply below with any additional details or questions for further assistance.

Hi Fred yes, I was thinking that it is the gas valve or 1 of the 2 the siloniod valves.

A:

Per the parts breakdown the valve is only available as an assembly. I do not show the coils being available sindividually or as a set. .

Q:

Why is my Maytag Gas Dryer Model# MdG3757Aww not heating?

A:

On something like this you will need a multimeter to track down the voltage loss. We need to know if the igniter is receiving 120 volts for a starting point. Please see the images from the service manual provided below for access, component testing & the path of voltage to the motor. Be sure the gas is turned on.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

Q:

How do I install the belt on my Maytag dryer model MDG3757AWW?

A:

Be sure that you have the dryer unplugged and the gas shut off when accessing internal components. According to your details, you apparently already have the front panel off and the tumbler removed. If not, you can follow the steps provided in this link of a previous answer: How do I install the belt on my Maytag model MDE3706MYW dryer? .

The replacement and routing of the drive belt is shown in the image below. As noted below, the ribbed side will go towards (touching) the tumbler. This information should help you properly replace the belt on your Maytag dryer. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
