Thanks for the information about your dryer model MDG2600BWW, I will be glad to assist. Based on your explanation of the dryer operation I believe that there may be an air movement issue. Here is a quick test you can do; get behind the dryer and remove the vent hose. Set the dryer on a high setting and timed dry with a load of clothes. If this load dries properly then the issue is not the dryer but your venting is restricted and will need cleaning from inside to outside of your home. If the dryer does not dry that load, be sure filter and filter housing are free of lint build-up and the blower is moving air out the vent on back of dryer. Try these tips and reply back if you need additional help. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services. Ron H.

I know it's frustrating when the dryer stops working. The information you have received that pertains to a gas dryer is good. There can be several reasons why its not heating. If the ignitor is not glowing, it could be an open sensor or the ignitor itself could have failed. If the ignitor does glow but there is no ignition the most common reason will be with the valve coils. It could also be open contacts in the timer or the thermostat. I recommend having a technician make these checks. However, if you have a meter feel confident in making some voltage and resistance checks and would like more assistance, I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Q:

How do you replace a timer and ignitor on a model MDG2600BWW dryer?

A:

The images below contain the instructions to access and change the timer and igniter. Remember to unplug the dryer first.

The timer knob should pull straight off and there are two screws that hold the timer.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
